The Annual Salmon Derby this year takes place on Sunday August 23rd. It is open to all members of the Esquimalt Anglers Association. The minimum size (salmon only) is 5 lb. The Derby boundary is Race Rocks to Trial Island. Starting time is sunrise and final weigh-in at 2:00 pm. Prices are presented on Derby Day at 3:00 pm at the Clubhouse. Prize Categories are for the three largest fish, with a trophy and personalized plaque for the largest fish. There are also hidden weight prizes.

The 9th Annual Davey Derby will take place at the Port Renfrew Marina on the weekend of July 24, 25, and 26. This year's derby will once again feature a prize table totaling over $12,000.00 with all proceeds going to charity and salmon enhancement. Tickets are $45.00 a rod and can be purchased at the Port Renfrew Marina or in advance.

The Vancouver Island Salmon Classic will be held September 3rd, 4th and 5th , 2009 bringing together some of the most skilled anglers in the world to participate in one of BC’s highest prized fishing competitions. A Southern Vancouver Island seaside community will be home to this $175,000 cash prize derby. With a $100,000 first prize, $50,000 second prize and a $25,000 third prize!
A minimum of 40 teams must be registered by July 15th, 2009 and only a maximum number of 75 teams can participate for the $100,000 Grand Prize!
