Pacific Salmon Foundation Gala:

Recipe: Smoked Salmon Cucumbers
Here is a recipe for a great appetizer sure to please your friends and family over the Holidays. It is also quick and easy which is great after a long day of Boxing Day shopping! Enjoy:
- 1 sliced cucumber
- 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
- 8 tablespoons smoked salmon
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
- Lay out each slice of cucumber on a serving tray.
- Spread a tiny amount of plain Greek yogurt on each slice. Be careful not to put too much, as the yogurt can overpower the other flavors.
- Cut the salmon into 1 inch squares, and lay each square on top of the yogurt and cucumber.
- Sprinkle chopped chives on top of the salmon.

Winter Steelhead fishing is in full swing now through February, so it is a great time to get out there! Here is a bit of information on how to fish them:
The winter Steelhead fishery is a small window of opportunity with having to compete with high winter waters. Once they enter the river, they spawn, regain energy and then they are back off to the ocean. This is a fun and exciting time to fish for steelheads as it is more of a hunt. The best way to fish the river is to comb the water. This is where you cast and fish a section, take a few steps down river, and fish the next section.
Winter Steelheads are less likely to fight or chase down your bait which is why you should take your bait to them or “hunt” them. Fishing with corkies, spin ‘n’ glows or pink worms in the bottom 6″ of the water is the best way to go.
